A wildfire conscionable eastbound of Edmonton forced constabulary to concisely unopen down a portion of Edmonton's Anthony Henday road to each traffic Saturday afternoon, according to Strathcona County RCMP.
The fire, which RCMP learned astir soon earlier 12:30 p.m. MT, started adjacent the highway, betwixt Edmonton and Sherwood Park, constabulary said.
In an update sent astir 3:15 p.m., RCMP said the occurrence was deemed nether control.
RCMP had initially closed the Henday — and astir connecting roads and highways — to each traffic, betwixt Baseline and Wye roads.
Strong winds helped spread the flames rapidly, and constabulary soon extended the shutdown further northbound to Highway 16.
Police had advised that portion of Highway 16 was expected to close, and suggested further roadworthy closures could come.
But crews were capable to incorporate the fire, allowing the highways to reopen to traffic, constabulary said.
The origin of the occurrence is nether investigation.
