A 16-year-old is successful custody aft allegedly stabbing a taxi operator successful Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Tuesday night, according to police.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said the teen was arrested astir 9:30 p.m., aft an off-duty serviceman witnessed the stabbing adjacent Main and Hastings.
While the substance is inactive nether investigation, VPD spokesperson Steve Addison said it appears that determination was a "dispute" astir outgo betwixt the taxi operator and rider erstwhile they arrived astatine the passenger's destination.
"As a effect of that dispute, the cab operator was stabbed," Addison said successful an interview. No different details astir the "dispute" were provided.
The 59-year-old cab operator was treated successful infirmary for a non-life threatening injury, constabulary said. He has since been released from hospital.
Police said the teen, a Richmond, B.C., resident, remains successful custody. Police are recommending helium beryllium charged with aggravated assault, Addison said.
