A Sipekne'katik man is facing an battle charge after a fishery serviceman was struck by a car astatine Smiths Settlement successful the Halifax Regional Municipality.

According to an RCMP quality release, officers responded to a study of an battle adjacent Highway 7 astatine 5 a.m. connected Saturday.

DFO officers were conducting an inspection at Eel Pond erstwhile a car driven by a 36-year-old antheral collided with a uniformed fishery serviceman who was connected ft and instructing him to stop, the merchandise said.

The fishery serviceman was not injured.

The operator was arrested astatine the scene.

An extendable baton and cause paraphernalia recovered successful the conveyance during a hunt were seized. 

The antheral was charged with battle with a limb and was released. He is scheduled to look successful Dartmouth provincial court on Aug. 20.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay confirmed the limb was the Acura TL that struck the fishery officer.
