The merger of 2 Kitchener hospitals has been approved by the province.

Starting connected Tuesday, Grand River Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital volition harvester to signifier the new Waterloo Regional Health Network.

The announcement was made by the hospitals connected Friday.

"For patients and assemblage members, they volition payment from a much seamless diligent experience, and improved entree to the exceptional services and attraction our Hospitals are known for," the hospitals said successful a release.

The names of the buildings volition change:

  • Grand River K-W field volition go Waterloo Regional Health Network astatine Midtown. It volition person an exigency department.

The hospitals announced their volition to merge successful April 2024. In October, the hospitals said they had filed an integration concern lawsuit to the state and were conscionable awaiting support from the state to merge their boards.
