A 22-year-old pistillate has died aft falling from a slackline astatine a fashionable climbing country adjacent Squamish, according to B.C. RCMP.

In a connection issued Saturday evening, Squamish RCMP said they were called to Chek Canyon Recreation Area astir 12:30 p.m. connected Friday pursuing reports that a pistillate had fallen from a slackline — a tightrope-like webbing used by climbers for equilibrium and recreation.

Due to the hard terrain astatine the bottommost of the canyon, constabulary accidental Squamish Search and Rescue was called successful to assistance with the recovery.

The B.C. Coroners Service is present investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Authorities person not released her identity.


Victim services was contiguous astatine the country to enactment respective individuals who witnessed the incident, according to RCMP.

"Anyone affected by this incidental is encouraged to scope retired to unfortunate services for enactment and assistance," the connection said. 

Chek Canyon Recreation Area, located conscionable northbound of Squamish, is known for its steep terrain with astir 100 climbing routes for some beginners and adept climbers.
